TIM OLDHAM is an independent producer, executive producer, editor and mastering engineer. As director of Strict Time his clients include the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

His experience ranges from live and studio recordings with international stars such as Jose Carreras and Roberto Alagna to film music for Roman Polanski and arena concerts with Pierre Boulez.

A boy soprano in St Mary’s Catholic Cathedral Choir, Edinburgh, Tim Oldham toured internationally with Scottish Opera for three years performing Benjamin Britten’s key roles of Miles in Turn of the Screw and Harry in Albert Herring.

Moving to France in 1976 he studied Music and Musicology at the Sorbonne, Paris, and was hired by EMI/Pathe Marconi in 1981 as producer’s assistant and editor.

Back in the UK in 1984 he gained further experience of digital editing and CD mastering at EMI Records, Abbey Road, London before joining Chandos Records in 1987 as producer and editor. 

In 1992 Tim was invited to move back to Paris as producer with Erato Disques (Warner Classics). Whilst at Erato he began producing out-door and arena-type sound systems for live concerts with Sir Colin Davis, Pierre Boulez and Jose Cura, alongside supporting casts of 800 plus, at venues including the Paris Zenith and the Cité de la Musique. He also worked in close collaboration with film director Roman Polanski, producing the music for Death and the Maiden and acting as executive producer for Sumi Jo on the soundtrack of The Ninth Gate. 

Tim has worked as an independent producer since 2001 and as Director of Strict Time since 2004.
